International Development

This course introduces the students to key principles and concepts in international development, and aims at providing a critical foundation for political and interdisciplinary approaches to development. The course explores the complex inter-relations between society, economy and environment, including historical, political and geographical perspectives. It examines issues of poverty, inequality and sustainability and shows different ways of engaging with them.

The course is divided in three broad parts: (1) International development 101; (2) an introduction to development economics; (3) natural resources and development.
